Every shot, every death — live mapped

Something I built for myself. Here's what 100+ of my own games at the Pinwheel look like in data: every shot fired, box opened, runner extracted and body looted, replayed on the map.

Every event in a match is a row: shot fired, box opened, extraction, death. Most of the work was deciding what to leave out, because drawing all of it at once just gives you a solid block of colour.

Interim Engineering Lead — RaceMake.com

I led architecture and delivery for an LLM-powered sim-racing telemetry platform: a Rust/Tauri desktop app and a React web app.

  • I rebuilt both clients around extensible high-frequency telemetry pipelines and per-game adapters.
  • I built an AI pit team and interactive 3D visualisations on top of the live data.
  • I was brought in to lead, not to take direction. I set the architecture, then shipped it with the team.

The 5-minute version, from meRecorded for founders sizing up a first or a founding engineer. What I build, who I've built it for, and who I'm looking to work with.

Hey, I'm Doug.

I've built products for Framer, Contra, Groupon, The Motley Fool and Sky. I'm a subject contributor on MIT's Generative AI and LLM course, and I've founded and sold three products of my own.

British software engineer and founder, twelve years in. I'll work out what to build, design it, write it, and then do the work that gets people using it. Most of what I ship now has an LLM somewhere in it, and I write nearly all of it with agents.

Some shape on the timeline: WithSeismic is the consultancy I've run since 2016, so most of the client work sits under that, and the founder entries are products I built and sold alongside it. hogsend.com is the current one.

Lead Product Engineer / Creator — hogsend.com

A code-first lifecycle platform: durable event-driven journeys, real-time segmentation, first-party identity and revenue attribution, all in one system.

  • I built it because I had hand-rolled the same lifecycle and attribution stack for client after client, and I wanted a version you can test like code.
  • I designed the multi-package SDK, the typed providers and a deterministic harness, so you can assert a journey in CI instead of clicking through a canvas.

Technical Founder — Dinners With Friends

I built the product, the operations platform and the acquisition for a social-events business, and then I ran it.

  • Shipped a mobile app on both the iOS App Store and Google Play, built with Expo, alongside the web product.
  • Product and ops: ticketing and payments on Stripe Connect, guest messaging, lifecycle email, AI-assisted admin.
